About the IB Guide

The IB Guide is written by Simon Johnson. This website is an offshoot of the book. He scored 44 points in the IB in November 2009, and has now been offered a place at Cambridge University to study history.

He wrote the book to prevent people making the same mistakes he did. Having spent many hours struggling over assignments, he wanted to help a future generation of IB students. With the help of generous people who contributed their essays, he wrote a book which explained exactly how to do each assignment in 6 of the biggest subjects. The book includes a series of model assignments and, more importantly, a clear explanation as to why they are good assignments and how to do the same.

The book also includes a section for parents. Choosing the IB is one of the hardest decisions that a parent would have to make in their child’s education. He provides his reflections on choosing to do the IB and what parents should consider when deciding whether it is right for their children.

Please be warned that all material that you will find on this site was material submitted by myself, or by other people at Kristin School, New Zealand, in fulfilment of their IB diploma. The IB has a very rigerous anti-plagarism protocol. You would be VERY silly to submit it as your own work. (Instant fail of the diploma…)

Although I make a lot of reference to the IB, and the International Baccalaureate Organisation who adminster it, the book is neither endorsed nor written by the IBO. Any mistakes are entirely my own.

If you have any feedback or critque of either the book or website, please don’t hesistate to contact me.
